Informal learning supported by advanced Web 2.0 based interactive technology for enhancing quality of business management

Right knowledge and managerial skills to use the knowledge are foundations of successful organizational management. A major part of the organizational knowledge is tacit. Managerial knowledge and skills are needed in a consistent way at many different levels in organizations, including the board, executives, directors, managers, process owners, project managers, and individuals (self-management).Organizational and personal learning are prerequisites for enhancing knowledge and skills in striving for quality of business management.

Knowledge Work Environment (KWE) is an approach to use modern IT (Interactive Technology) to facilitate effective and efficient knowledge-intensive and networked business activities. This approach is based on social software and Web 2.0 tools-components that are available from the open source software community. The KWE solution is aligned with so called Enterprise 2.0 approaches for which there have been launched several initiatives. KWE provides means for learning through improving internal and external interactive and collaborative communication of management, and building social knowledge and intelligence. Management learning is integrated with normal managing activities of the business leaders.

Effective learning requires application of new learning theories like connectivity, interactivity, and sharing information and knowledge. Factually 80% of learning takes place by informal learning, e.g. by serendipic or parasitic learning. Only basic management / leadership skills may be learned by traditional training. Business leaders are busy and not interested in attending comprehensive training programs or in using ordinary e-learning means. KWE provides improvement to the current problems of organizational training and e-learning applications.
